Chicot County (AR) is under a Heat Advisory until 8 PM tonight, but the entire ArkLaMiss could see triple digit heat indices through the afternoon into the evening hours.
We have one more hot and humid day and that day is tomorrow, Monday. There’s about a 20% chance for scattered showers, but we will also see cloud coverage begin to creep in the ArkLaMiss and stay for much of the week. Afternoon highs will stay in the mid to upper 90’s.
A low pressure system has been bringing rain to Florida and much of the Gulf Coast over the past couple of days and is expected to move west towards and even cross over the ArkLaMiss. That will bring pretty solid rain chances from Tuesday through Thursday, but rain is possible through the next weekend.
We will see temperatures drop to the low 90’s for Tuesday through the weekend, so Fourth of July will at least feel a little more comfortable. Rain totals keep fluctuating back and forth because of a lot of dust that has moved over the ArkLaMiss.
The ‘dust’ is coming from the coast of Africa along the Saharan Air Layer and will allow things to appear hazy and could flare up allergies. Why is this important? Well, the dust from Saharan Air Layer will suck up any moisture for precipitation development. We have solid rain chances, but you can thank this dust for keeping rain chances and tropical cyclone development down.
