Weather Forecast- Friday, January 18th

(1/18/2019) Good Friday morning! It’s an extremely foggy start outside this morning with Dense Fog Advisories in effect across all of north Lousiana until 10am. Dense fog and zero visibility is going to last through the morning until around 8-9am, and then gradually clear out. Once visibililty improves, we will be dealing with cloudy skies through the rest of the morning and all afternoon. Temperatures today will top out in the mid 60’s, another mild day. Rain chances await us later this afternoon as a cold front approaches the ArkLaMiss. The SPC has issued a marginal risk for severe storms tonight, with frequent thunder and lightning expected. This is a low-end threat, only an isolated severe storm or two is expected.

Rain will become widespread after sunset and showers and storms will pass through overnight. Expect around 0.5-1.5″ of rainfall, nothing too heavy that could lead to flash flooding. Winds will pick up as well, around 10-20mph from the south.

Tomorrow we will start to dry out in the morning, with most of the rain cleared off by lunchtime. Once the rain clears out where you live, winds will pick up and stay between 15-25 mph from the NW with gusts in excess of 30mph. Temperatures will drop through the course of the day, by the afternoon the temperatures will be down to the 40’s and wind chills will be near freezing! We’ve got chilly weather on tap through the entire weekend, with wind chills Sunday morning in the teens and lows in the 20’s. Good news- the SUN returns Sunday and we won’t have anymore clouds in the sky with highs in the 40’s.
