Evening forecast for Monday, January 15

A strong Arctic cold front will bring another round of sleet and snow to the ArkLaMiss tonight and tomorrow morning.

A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for all of south Arkansas and extreme north Louisiana. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the rest of northern Louisiana through tomorrow. Rain, changing to sleet and snow overnight, will be likely for much of the ArkLaMiss.

The changover in precipitation will likely begin across south Arkansas early in the night, with more snow and sleet likely to take over in north Louisiana early tomorrow morning. The highest accumulations will likely remain across southern Arkansas, where 2-4″ of sleet and snow combined may make for hazardous travel tomorrow. A swath of 1-2″ accumulations are likely along I-20.

Any slush or moisture left on the roads likely won’t melt off much through the day on Tuesday, as temperatures are likely to remain below freezing.

Temperatures will be extremely cold by Wednesday morning with single digit wind chills possible across the region.
