In the offseason of 2022, Gregory had originally signed the five-year deal with the Cowboys, but he spurned Dallas at the last second. At the time, Gregory wasn’t happy with the language in Dallas’ contract offer, leading him to sign with Denver instead.
To begin his career, Gregory had 16.5 sacks in 50 games with the Cowboys, but in the last two years, the pass rusher played in just 10 games for the Broncos. While with Denver, Gregory battled injuries, only appearing in six games last season and totaling 21 tackles and three sacks in his Broncos career.
According to Schefter, Denver is making this move largely to focus on younger players, but the team owes Gregory $14 million guaranteed for the rest of the season regardless. However, Gregory is not guaranteed any money beyond this season.
