On Thursday morning, Sterlington saw its dream come true.
In November 2015, Mayor Vern Breland and his town council introduced to voters a half-cent sales tax, that would help fund a baseball and softball sports complex.
The measure passed by just 12 votes. And, now there are 12 fields.
The project took two years to complete. The official ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Thursday.
$11.1 million later, area ballplayers have a new place to swing for the fences.
