RUSTON — When the brackets for the LHSAA baseball playoffs were released last week, many people didn’t predict Ruston would still be baseball this far into the postseason.
Since seeding began in 2008, the Bearcats are the lowest seed ever, at No. 26, to reach the quarterfinals.
But, Coach Toby White and company won’t let a number determine how they perform on the diamond.
This weekend, they’ll travel to face No. 15 seed, Acadiana.
“To play against one of the top teams in the state and to be fortunate to come out with two wins, it’s a great feeling. Especially this time of the year. It’s kind of like March Madness, survive and advance. We’ve been getting a lot of good pitching these last few weeks. And, playing real good defense too. Hopefully, we’ll keep the magic going and ride the wave.”
