RUSTON – Coming off two convincing home wins, the Louisiana Tech men’s basketball team will now face its toughest road weekend of the conference season by taking on two of the top four teams in the league standings.

It starts with a Thursday night battle versus UAB at 8 p.m. inside Bartow Arena in a matchup that will be broadcast by the American Sports Network.

Along with the TV broadcast, fans can also watch a free live stream of the game at AmericanSportsNet.com.  Doug Bell and Tim Scarborough will call the action.

LA Tech (14-6, 6-1 C-USA) is currently all alone in second place in the league standings.  They are riding a season-best four-game winning streak and have won eight of its last 10, the two losses both coming by a single point.

During this four-game stretch, the Bulldogs are forcing 15.5 turnovers per game while generating an average of 8.8 steals.  On offense, all five starters are averaging double figures in scoring while the team is shooting 50 percent from the field and 44 percent from behind the arc.

The three-time Conference USA Freshman of the Week DaQuan Bracey leads the team during this span with an average of 15.0 points per contest.  He dropped 17 points, his second best scoring output this season, in the convincing 81-57 win over North Texas this past Saturday.

Right behind Bracey in scoring in the last four games are the upperclassmen Erik McCree and Jacobi Boykins who are each averaging 14.8 points.  Both players registered double-doubles in the victory over the Mean Green, Boykins notching the first one of his career with 20 points and 10 boards and McCree recording his ninth of the season with 14 points and 13 rebounds.

UAB (12-8, 5-2 C-USA), the defending C-USA regular season champions, were riding a season-best five-game winning streak before falling in its last game at FIU by a score of 94-85.

It was the Blazers second conference loss this season, matching their loss total from a season ago when they went 16-2 in league play.  This currently puts them in a tie for third place as it nears the halfway point of the conference schedule.

UAB is led by forward William Lee who was a third team All-Conference USA selection last season.  The forward currently leads the team in points (12.7) and rebounds (6.6) per game.  He also ranks first in the league and 14th in the country in blocks per game with an average of 2.65.

The Blazers leads the all-time series, 6-3, but the Bulldogs have gone 3-2 against them since the two teams became conference foes in C-USA in 2013-14.

The only success LA Tech has had in Birmingham came in the very first meeting in the league which came in 2014 and resulted in a 67-58 victory.  The ‘Dogs are just 1-5 all-time at UAB.

The game can be heard live on the LA Tech Sports Network on KXKZ 107.5 FM (Ruston) and KJVC 92.7 FM (Mansfield) as well as on the LA Tech X Mobile app.  The “Voice of the Bulldogs” Dave Nitz will call the play-by-play and Jack Thigpen will provide analysis.
