UPDATE: (KTVE/KARD)– On May 27, 2021 Ouachita Parish Deputies were dispatched to the 2000 block of D’arbone Drive in reference to a disturbance.
While officers were in route, dispatch advised the victim left the residence and walked on foot to a neighbors home. The suspect, who is the victim’s husband was still at their home.
According to arrest reports, deputies made contact with the victim and secured her statement. The victim said she and her husband engaged into a verbal altercation in the master bedroom of their home.
The victim left the master bedroom, entered another bedroom in the home and locked the door. The suspect followed her and burst through the door. At that time the two engaged into a physical altercation in which the victim bit the suspect on the arm in order to get free.
While leaving the residence the victim observed the suspect get an AR-15 rifle out of the kitchen area. The victim said she heard a shot fired from the residence as she was leaving, escaping to a neighbor’s home. The victim was unable to to call from her phone due to it being damaged during the physical altercation with the suspect.
The victim told deputies she was scared for her life. Deputies observed marks on the victim’s right arm and left hand as well as redness around her neck.
Deputies then made contact with the suspect, 51-year-old Mark Leath who admitted he and his wife were engaged in both a verbal and physical dispute. Leath said his wife attacked him due to taking her phone to prevent her from calling authorities.
Leath denied all allegations of hitting the victim and arming himself with an AR-15 rifle when the victim fled the residence. Deputies observed scratches and marks on the suspect’s right hand and fingers.
Leath was arrested and booked into Ouachita Correctional Center for Domestic Abuse Battery, Domestic Abuse Aggravated Assault and Interfering with Emergency Communications.
WEST MONROE La. (KTVE/KARD)– Ouachita Parish Police responded to a domestic disturbance on Whites Ferry Road near D’arbone Drive in West Monroe.
Witnesses tell us the altercation may have involved a gun. When the NBC 10 news team arrived, deputies were in the neighborhood , but advised no one was hurt.
