UPDATE: MONROE, La. (KTVE/KARD) — The Monroe Police Department has released new details about the arrest of Dewing Hickerson. According to police, they got a tip that Hickerson was staying at a hotel on Desiard Street.

Officers say when they tried to contact Hickerson, he attempted to leave the hotel through a back window. Police tell us they were able to arrest him without any injuries or incidents. According to the statement, police searched the room where Hickerson was staying and they say they found narcotics in the room.

Police tell us, Hickerson was booked at the Ouachita Correctional Center on all of the charges listed below, including Attempted Second Degree Murder. 

UPDATE: MONROE, La. (KTVE/KARD) (December 27, 2021 11:35 a.m.) — On Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at approximately 2:34 PM, Hickerson was arrested by Monroe Police. He was charged with the following offenses:

  • Four counts of Possession of Legend Drug without Prescription
  • Two counts of Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance
  • Three counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance
  • Resisting an Officer
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of Certain Felonies
  • Second Degree Attempted Murder

MONROE, La. (KTVE/KARD) — Monroe Police needs the public’s assistance in locating 54-year-old Dewing Hickerson. Hickerson is wanted for Attempted Second Degree Murder along with several other felony charges.
