UPDATE (10/31/2022) (KTVE/KARD) — On Monday, October 31, 2022, the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal released more information about the fatal motorhome fire that took place on October 27, 2022, on Louisville Avenue in Monroe, La. On October 27, 2022, Monroe Fire was dispatched to a reported RV fire on a commercial property.

Upon arrival, firefighters learned that two people were in the motorhome. One victim managed to escape the fire; however, a deceased Texas man was later located near the front of the RV where it appeared he attempted to escape.

Official identification of the victim and cause of death are pending with the Ouachita Parish Coroner’s Office. According to officials, the victim is believed to be a 59-year-old employee of the business who was staying in the RV.

During the investigation, officials determined that the fire began in the slide-out section of the motorhome. Deputies are unable to rule out an electrical malfunction related to an overloaded power strip and improper use of extension cords as a possible cause.


MONROE, La. (KTVE/KARD) — On Thursday, October 27, 2022, around 5:55 AM, Monroe Fire was dispatched to a reported fire on Louisville Avenue in Monroe, La. According to officials, firemen arrived at the scene and discovered a motorhome on fire.

An adult male was pronounced dead and another individual managed to escape the motorhome. The surviving victim was transported to a local hospital.

At this time, authorities are not releasing the deceased victim’s identification.
