Sheriff’s Office Confirms Drowning Death of Juvenile in Heber Springs, Arkansas

A 17-year-old male drowned Saturday morning at Dam Site Recreation Area in Heber Springs, Arkansas. The Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office says the juvenile slipped and fell into the water near Trouble Island shortly before 10:30 a.m.

Deputies, along with members from the Corps of Engineers Rangers, North Star EMS, Heber Springs Police Department and Fire Department, and Cleburne County Search and Rescue arrived on scene to help assist in locating the teen. 

Divers were able to pull the teen’s body out of the water. The teen was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The name of the 17-year-old has not been released.
