LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — A former Arkansas Razorbacks football player who owns an investment firm says he’s running for Arkansas lieutenant governor.
Chris Bequette on Tuesday became the fifth Republican to announce a bid for the GOP nomination for the state’s No. 2 office.
Bequette, who owns a wealth management practice, played for the Razorbacks from 1984 through 1987.
The other GOP candidates running for lieutenant governor are state Sen. Jason Rapert, Surgeon General Greg Bledsoe, Washington County Judge Joseph Wood and former state Republican Party Chairman Doyle Webb.
Bequette is the uncle of former NFL player Jake Bequette, who’s running for U.S. Senate.
