MONROE, La. (KTVE/KARD) — On Thursday, March 16, 2023, officials announced at the Monroe Chamber of Commerce event that Amtrak will be running through Monroe, La. within two years. It was also announced that within four years, there will be two round trips spanning from Mederian, Miss. to Dallas, Texas passing through Monroe, La.
The chairman of transportation for America shared the benefits that will come from this project.
“Canadian Pacific says their intent is to run one round trip a day from Meridian to Dallas Fort Worth, through Monroe within two years. Within four years they will run two round trips a day. That brings commerce, it brings connectivity and most importantly it brings bright young workers who are looking to live in places where they don’t have to depend on automobile.”
