Pharmacy chiefs defend medication patents

(2/27/19) Insulin has been around for more than a century and yet it’s prices has more than quadrupled.

The execs testified that other countries regulated prices for medicines however that often leads to shortages.

Some senators say the patent system allows drug companies to have a monopoly on medications and block cheaper generic drugs.

They’re now drafting bills that would regulate prices on the medications.
