Congress sends new deal to President Trump

National News

(2/13/19) The President is looking to make the most of a deal he doesn’t like, tweeting Tuesday night.

He’s “Looking over all aspects.”

The bill provides almost $1.4 billion dollars for a physical barrier, short of the $5.7 billion dollars the President initially wanted.

It would allow for 55 new miles of border fencing in Texas’ Rio Grande Valley.

The bill also includes an agreement on ICE Detention bed funding, and gives officials the flexibility to increase it if needed.

Lawmakers want President Trump to sign the agreement quickly and to avoid another partial shutdown Friday.

Trump says “I don’t think you’re going to see a shutdown. I wouldn’t want to go through it now.”

There are also questions about whether he can shift Federal money around to further fund a wall because he didn’t get exactly what he wanted in this deal.
