WMHS team visits woman in hospice

Local News

(12/04/18) On Sunday, Nina Blazier was surprised by her favorite football team in the hospital. The West Monroe High School football team.

She felt a connection through the young men in red jerseys since her husband John was on the first WMHS football team. Nina has been a big fan of the local football team since the beginning and throughout their 49-year marriage. In addition to the love of the game, following the Rebels allows her to feel that connection with her late husband.

The team brought gifts to show their appreciation for her support.

Nina clutched onto one of the gifts, a signed football helmet, as the team lined up to introduce themselves and shake her hand.

Nina is currently on hospice and just two weeks ago she was unresponsive.

“I thought I would see if I could get one or two young men to come say hello just to make her smile. They have lifted her spirits BIG time,” says Ashley Sims, Nina’s granddaughter.

Her spirits have been lifted big time and she is excited to cheer them on when they head to the dome!
