West Ouachita High School honors Purple Heart recipients while raising funds for the school choir

WEST MONROE, La. - (12/12/18) West Ouachita High School held a fundraiser today for their school's choir, but they did it in a way that also honors Purple Heart recipients.

They gathered to listen to the school choir as they prepare to head to Carnegie Hall in New York.

One special item was raffled off to help with the costs of the trip.

A staff member hand-built a guitar that the Purple Heart recipients were able to sign.

This was his way of honoring those who have sacrificed so much for us.

WOHS staff member Rick Felkel said, "Those military men got remembered one more time, and I'm certain they were living out their last years thinking they were forgotten, but at least this one more time we showed honor to some people who gave great sacrifice."

The staff at WOHS want to express how grateful they are for the turnout of the recipients and are thankful for the sacrifices they have made.
