The post was shared hundreds of times as she received well wishes and even some questions.
Our Bria Jones caught up with Ms. Hattie Mae Williams about the amazing milestone.
Williams celebrated her 100th birthday on April 9th.
Dripping in diamonds and sitting pretty in pink she spent celebrated the big day the only way she knows how — praising the Lord.
“I just want to walk around, walk around in heaven all day,” said Williams.
“100 come up on me and i’m just here in the grace of god.” 19:39:53 — :07
Williams spent her childhood picking cotton on a farm in Downsville, Louisiana.
Times that set the foundation for her life.
“I always think about how my mother raised me and i ain’t forget about that,” said Williams.
She later moved to West Monroe and became a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church.
It was in the Twin Cities where she married Robert Williams and had five children.
Today, at 100-years-old Williams is walking three times a day, cooking and working in her garden.
She even lived alone until the March 2016 floods.
“Mayor Norris and his engineer team they came into my mother’s yard with a hummer and they picked my mother up in a chair and they rescued her put her in a hummer and took her out,” said her son, Bobby Joe Williams.
And while she is waiting to go home, her son says her presence has been a blessing.
“I’m sitting next to wisdom here. A 100-years-old of wisdom here. She began to give me strength and encourage me,” said B. Williams.
Wisdom she is willing to share with whoever listens.
Letting people know if you hold on to god, he will never let you go.
“He will always be with you through thick and thin. Wherever you go,” said Williams.
Ms. Williams is currently the oldest living person to medication for the Walmart Pharmacy in West Monroe.
As she celebrated her platinum birthday she also received special recognition from Mayor Dave Norris.
