West Monroe High School was put on lockdown Thursday morning.
West Monroe Police Department says the lockdown started with a vehicle accident that turned into a hit and run.
One of the drivers involved in the accident fled the crash on foot and entered the football stadium then fled south of the campus.
The school was put on lockdown as a safety precaution.
The lockdown is in the process of being lifted.
Students are reportedly safe.
