UPDATE: Victim and suspect in fatal shooting identified

UPDATE (1/16/19): The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim killed in a double shooting that happened Tuesday.

Deputies have identified the deceased victim as Lakeidra Deontinik Rodgers, age 22 of Monroe.

Deputies say Rodgers was apparently shot by the suspect, Dontavious Darnell Rucks, age 19, of Monroe.

The suspect, Rucks, then apparently shot himself, receiving a life threatening wound and is receiving hospital treatment as of this writing.

No further details are available at this time.

(1/15/19) The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a shooting took place Tuesday afternoon.

Deputies responded to a reported shooting at 3:25 p.m. in the 100 block of Meredith St. in Monroe.

Deputies tell us one person was found deceased at the scene, a second person was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

No identities are being released at this time.
