UPDATE: Two suspects booked in Tullos homicide

UPDATE (4/29) : The LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office has booked two suspects this morning in the homicide case that has resulted from Monday’s report of two missing individuals in Tullos, La.

Austin Dyess, an 18 year old white male, and Joshua Sant, a 26 year old white male, were both charged with 2 counts of second degree murder, and criminal conspiracy to commit second degree murder, in the death of Chelsey Copling and Demond Garner.


UPDATE [Thursday, Apr. 28th, 10pm] – 

The town of Tullos is home to only a few hundred people. 
Residents tell us they are scared and stunned that a missing persons case turned into a double homicide investigation. 
One local, who did not wish to be identified, says she only lives a mile from the crime scene. 
“In the town of Tullos that’s the biggest thing that has ever happened. A double homicide… It makes you wonder what other people will do.”
Deputies say 26-year-old Demond Garner and 19-year-old Chelsey Copling were last seen alive Sunday night leaving a home in Lasalle Parish on foot. 
They were reported missing on Monday. 
On a tip, the LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office says they searched a wooded area south of town and found two bodies.
Deputies say the bodies were identified as Copling and Garner.
The crime scene is behind a church, and residents say its a place where kids sometimes play. 
The resident says, “It’s scary to think its right there, especially behind a church. Why would you do that behind a church?”
The sheriff’s office says the investigation is on-going, but the say two suspects are in custody, awaiting formal charges. 

UPDATE [Thursday, Apr. 28th, 3:50pm]-

Yesterday around noon, LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office Detectives were led by tips to a wooded area South of Tullos. The bodies of the two missing individuals were found to be victims of an apparent homicide. Two suspects were identified in the case and were taken into custody later the same evening. Both suspects are being held in the LaSalle Parish Jail awaiting formal charges.

The two people that were reported missing from LaSalle Parish on Monday, Chelsey Copling and Demond Garner, have been located. We have suspects in custody at this time and the investigation is ongoing. More details will be released as they become available. 



The LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Tullos Police Department are seeking two individuals reported missing yesterday afternoon.

Chelsey Copling, a 19 year old white female, and Demond Garner, a 26 year old black male, left a Tullos residence on foot sometime on Sunday night with an unknown destination.
