UPDATE: Police arrest 5, searching for 4 in shooting death of 33-year-old

UPDATE (10/19/18): The Bastrop Police Department has recently made 5 arrests and put out 4 felony arrest warrants in connection to the death of a 33-year-old father of two girls.

On October 9, 2018 Brian Thomas b/m 33 yoa was shot and killed at Eden Apartments. The Bastrop Police Department has led an extensive investigation into this murder and has begun to make arrests connected to the case.

On October 19, 2018 a task force consisting of the Bastrop Police Department, the Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s Office and LA Probation and Parole executed four search warrants in reference to this investigation. The following subjects were arrested on Warrants issued in regards to the murder investigation and also additional charges stemming from the search warrants.

1) Glen Smith b/m 66 1115 Riis Street Bastrop, LA

     Possession of Marijuana

2) Troy Minnieweather b/m 17 519 Taylor Bastrop, LA

     (WARRANT) Illegal Use of a Firearm

     (WARRANT) Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

     Possession of a Schedule 1 (Ecstasy)

     Possession of a Schedule 2 with Intent to Distribute (Cocaine)

     Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of CDS

     Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor

3)  Javonte Chatman b/m 20 612 Snyder Bastrop, LA

     (WARRANT) Illegal Use of a Firearm

     (WARRANT) Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

     Possession of a Schedule 1 (Ecstasy)

     Possession of a Schedule 2 with Intent to Distribute (Cocaine)

     Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of CDS

     Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor

4) Cedric Johnson b/m 41 1504 Van Ave Bastrop, LA

     (WARRANT) Attempted 2nd Degree Murder

     (WARRANT) Illegal Discharge of a Firearm

     (WARRANT) Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

5) 1 Juvenile arrested for Possession of a Schedule 2

Four subjects remain at large in connection with the shooting death of Brian Thomas b/m 33 yoa. Felony Warrants have been issued for these subjects and we are asking the public’s help in locating them. 3) Roosevelt Bradshaw b/m/j 15 Last Known Address 301 Harrington Street Bastrop

      (WARRANT) 2nd Degree Murder

      (WARRANT) Conspiracy to Commit 2nd Degree Murder

4)  Jay’Sean Tippie AKA “Teflon Tippie” Last Known Address 926 Huey Street Bastrop 

     (WARRANT) 2nd Degree Murder

     (WARRANT) Conspiracy to Commit 2nd Degree Murder

ORIGINAL STORY:

(10/10/18) Bastrop Police are investigating the shooting that killed 33-year-old Brian Thomas. The shooting happened on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, after 9:00 pm.

The family confirmed Thomas’s identity with KTVE/KARD after receiving the news of his death.

They say Thomas was shot in the back of the head while standing outside his residence at Eden Apartments.

He died after being transported to the Morehouse General Hospital.

Thomas was a father of two girls.

No word from investigators on any leads on suspects as of yet.
