UPDATE: Oak Manor Apartments shooting suspect arrested in Missouri

UPDATE (12/5/18) Police in Missouri have arrested the suspect accused of a fatal shooting at some local apartments in Monroe.

According to the Joplin Police Department, they were contacted on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 by authorities in Monroe, Louisiana in reference to a homicide investigation.

Monroe officials requested assistance locating 17-year-old Markeivion R. Hill of Louisiana. Hill was charged with shooting and killing another male in Monroe on November 24, 2018 and was supposed to be in Joplin.

Joplin Police Detectives began a short investigation and located Hill walking near the 1200 block of South Wisconsin.

Hill was contacted and arrested without incident and is being held in the Joplin City Jail. 


UPDATE (11/30/18) The Monroe Police Department has identified the suspect accused of murder in the fatal shooting at Oak Manor Apartments.

According to Monroe Police, there is an active warrant for the arrest of 17-year-old Markeivion Hill for 2nd Degree Murder.

Hill is wanted in reference to a shooting that occurred at Oak Manor Apartments located at 2000 Peach Street on November 24, 2018.

Hill should be considered Armed and Dangerous.

Anyone with information on Hill’s whereabouts is asked to contact Detective Snowberger with the Monroe Police Department at (318) 329-2600.

Police arrested Demond Jackson, 34 of Monroe, on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, in connection to this fatal shooting.

Jackson is currently being held at the Ouachita Correctional Center on one count obstruction of justice and one count accessories after fact.

His bond has been set at $12,500.00.


UPDATE: (11/28/18) Police have arrested a man in connection to a fatal shooting that happened over the weekend, but they are still searching for the suspected shooter.

Demond Jackson, 34 of Monroe, was arrested Tuesday, November 27, 2018, in connection with a fatal shooting that happened at Oak Manor Apartments.

According to the arrest report, Jackson witnessed the murder of 27-year-old Deshun Cook on November 24, 2018.

Police say immediately after the murder, Jackson and the suspect approached each other and Jackson allowed the suspect to use his cell phone to call a ride to leave the area before police arrived.

Jackson came to the Monroe Police Department after officers requested to speak with him.

Jackson advised officers that he deleted all messages and call history from his cell phone on his way to the police department.

Jackson even deleted the phone call made by the suspect. 

Jackson is reported to have a lengthy criminal history and is currently on parole until 2032.

He has been booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center on one count of accessories after the face and one count obstruction of justice.

His bond has not yet been set.

It is unclear at this time whether the Monroe Police know who the murder suspect is at this time. The investigation is continuing.



(11/26/18) The Monroe Police Department is investigating after a fatal shooting took place over the weekend at some local apartments.

Police say the shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. Saturday night at Oak Manor Apartments.

The victim has been identified as Deshaun Cook.

Police say Cook was shot during an argument with an unknown suspect.

Cook was taken to an area hospital where he died. 

The investigation is ongoing.
