(2/4/19) One Union Parish Detention Center guard has been arrested and another is being sought in connection with the recent beating of an inmate.

Lawrence Stanley “SJ” Glosson Jr., 20, of 504 E. Green St., Farmerville, was booked into the detention center Feb. 1 on charges of simple battery and malfeasance. His bond was set at $8,500.

Union Parish Sheriff’s deputies are searching for Kadarian Anderson, 28, on the same charges.

Sheriff Dusty Gates said the guards are accused of hitting and choking a 36-year-old inmate on Jan. 4 after the inmate complained about not getting a lunch plate.

Investigators reported that a video of the incident shows that Anderson strikes the inmate several times with his fist, shoves him against the wall and then chokes him. Also shown on the video was Glosson throwing the inmate to the floor and hitting him with his fists, Gates said.

“The video is clear and (the inmate) never attempted to hit them or use any force against these two guards,” the warrant affidavit states.

The sheriff said the warden at the detention center reported the incident Jan. 7 after an internal investigation. The warden told sheriff’s investigators that the two did not show up for work that day. Warrants were then issued for their arrests.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Anderson is asked to call UPSO at (318) 368-3124.
