Residents hopeful for answers after home invasion attack

RAYVILLE, La. - UPDATE: (8/10/2018 11:00pm)

A brutal attack on a Rayville family has put a neighborhood on edge; restless and waiting for answers.

Chase Parker was feeling anxious when he wasn't sure anyone had been arrested for the crimes.

"I'm thinking there's killers on the loose," resident Chase Parker said.

"My wife she was just every little noise she heard she was like what was that?" James Thornhill said.

However, when it comes to the home invasion attack that put a couple in the hospital, all they have right now is rumors.

"Like a lot of things just word of mouth," Pastor Rick Aultman said.


"[It's] crazy, I know it was a target it wasn't random," Parker said.

Around 6:08 am, the Richland Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a 9-1-1 call from a woman who lives at 2937 Hwy 425, but when deputies arrived they found a male victim laying here near his mailbox.


Since then, neighbors have heard a lot of different versions ot the story going around.

"I heard he got drug out of his house down to the mailbox and they left him in a ditch," Parker said.

Some are unsure of how the man was attacked. There have been rumors that he was shot, stabbed and beat up.

James L. Tabb, 29, and Terrance T. Miles, 26, were arrested for the attack.

Tabb is accused of attempted murder and rape.

With crimes this serious, residents are hoping to find out what really happened at this house and why?

"If we know what happened that way we kind of put our mind at ease," Thornhill said.

Neighbors and perfect strangers showing their support while one victim is still recovering in the hospital.

"I wanted to stop by the house and I dropped a note off to the family just letting them know that we are praying for them," Aultman said.

"We're hurt for them I know they've been through a tragedy"

"It's all we can do right now is just pray for them," Thornhill said.

Authorities have not released the names of the victims but neighbors call them "The Butlers."

The woman has been released but the man is still recovering in the hospital. KTVE/KARD has been told he is in stable condition.

(8/10/18) Two have been arrested in a recent home invasion in Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office (RPSO).

James L. Tabb, 29, and Terrance T. Miles, 26, have been arrested in regards to the home invasion.

Tabb is facing charges of attempted first degree murder with no bond and first degree rape with a bond of $1,000,000.

Miles is facing charges of accessories after the fact of attempted murder, there is no word yet on his bond.

According to RPSO, they received a call about a man entering a residence at 2937 Highway 425 in Rayville, Louisiana around 6:08 a.m. Thursday morning.

The caller said her husband had left the house and she did not know where he was at the time.

When deputies arrived at the home, they found a male victim near the mailbox in the ditch along Highway 425. The woman victim was in the house.

Deputies had the male victim transported to Shreveport where he is reported to be in stable condition. The female victim was treated and released.

Both men are being held at the Richland Parish Detention Center.
