Two arrested after leading officers on foot chase at Pecanland mall

Monroe Police arrested two Tallulah women after they led them on a foot chase through the Pecanland Mall over a handbag.

A loss prevention employee observed two suspects, later identified as Annie McGowan and Latasha Williams take a purse and wallet to the women’s shoe section and sit down.

According to the report, McGowan opened a large Dillard’s bag, and Williams put the purse and wallet inside. She then walked away through the mall entrance with McGowan following.

Williams refused to stop for officers while McGowan was advised to stop at which time she began resisting.

According to the report, McGowan is accused of pushing the officer away and struggling. Officers took McGowan to the ground, but she refused to put her hands behind her back. The officer used a stun gun twice on the suspect’s butt to complete the arrest.

Officers then began to chase Williams, who yelled “I ain’t stole nothing” as she ran through the mall parking lot in front of the food court.

McGowan, 41, 1012 North Madison, Tallulah, faces charges of criminal conspiracy, theft, resisting an officer, criminal trespass, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and misrepresentation during booking for initially providing officers with a false name of Kimberly Williams.

McGowan was previously charged with shoplifting at Dillard’s in 2016. Her total bond has not been set.

Latasha Williams, 33, 801 Bailey St., Tallulah faces charges of criminal conspiracy, theft and resisting an officer.
