It was a cold weekend in the twin cities, but it didn’t stop some die-hard golfers who bundled up, teed off and started swinging for a good cause. The Twin Cities Golf Association held its annual golf tournament at Chennault Park Golf Course in Monroe. Tournament organizers say the event helps several students earn much needed money for college.
“In addition to playing golf we also give money to different non-profit entities and other groups. We do scholarships annually. We give money to the United Way, to the Witness project. Just a lot of non-profits in the area,” said Liz Pierre, Vice President of Twin City Golf.
“It’s our bread and butter, I mean this is what we do and pretty much all of the funds that are raised are given back,” said Shirley Stewart, President of Twin City Golf
Golfers came from as far away as Ohio, Tennessee and even California to participate in the two day event.
