Louisiana State Police Troop E has something major to celebrate after a trooper returned to work after winning nearly a year long battle against cancer.

Troopers gathered for a small celebration at Troop E in Alexandria to welcome back Master Trooper Rodney Helton.
Rodney is currently in remission with a very good prognosis.
The Troop took to social media saying “Way to fight, Rodney!”
Master Trooper Rodney Helton was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia on November 12, 2016.

Rodney has been a Trooper for almost 20 years. The majority of his time, with LSP, has been spent as a Trooper working patrol out of Troop E in Alexandria.
He has also served in the capacity of a LSP detective and is currently assigned to the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement section.
Rodney underwent treatment at Baylor University Cancer Center in Dallas, TX.
Rodney is described by Louisiana State Police as highly respected among his peers and within the community he works and lives. He is a very kindhearted, caring, God-fearing man. Rodney is one that doesn’t know the meaning of quitting and is a fighter, a true warrior.
