The third annual ‘Walk A Mile in her Shoes’ event was held at ULM today. Participants came from different backgrounds, but many wore blue boas and high heels in solidarity.
Over 100 people came out to walk in hopes of bringing awareness to sexualized violence against women.
According to statistics, one out of six women will become a victim of sexual violence. Participant Liam Morrison says he walked because he believes in the message.
“I think it’s important to participate in events like this so that people know these kinds of things are still happening,” Morrison said.
Counselors at Wellspring’s Counseling and Family Development Center work closely with community members who have dealt with trauma from abuse.
