The Ouachita Parish Public Library’s Summer Fest kicks off this weekend.

While there are plenty of things you can do with your kids this summer
The Ouachita Parish Library has an educational option that’s sure to keep it cool.
Youth coordinator Lakeisha Bosworth says that it’s a great way to keep young minds sharp for the big break.

“We want to get them excited and kick off the summer and encourage them to continue to read throughout the summer because it helps continue to improve their skills,” Bosworth says. “It also helps prevent summer slide and it’s a great way to kick off our summer reading challenge. And for the parents to get them excited about reading and encourage them to read throughout the summer.”

The Ouachita Parish Library is rocking with a music theme of ‘Libraries Rock’.
While incorporating reading and literary elements, they will also host appearances by christian music artist Big Al Cherry and a special performances by ‘Lady Chops’.
As you can see, the possibilities are endless of the books that your child could be reading at this years Summer Fest.
