(3/15/19) Potential suspects caught on camera, but unrecognizable in the photo below. So West Monroe Police say they need you!

“They not going to run to the police and tell them who did it because they feel like that’s what they call snitching. So they not going to snitch on each other, they going to fight it out,” said local resident Christopher Smith.

Smith haslived in the community near the A-1 Mart in West Monroe his entire life and he stated that incidents like this are normal.

“Drugs, shootings, stabbings, fighting. It’s been like this, I’m 33, so it’s been like that since I’ve been alive,” he said.

Monday in the parking lot of the convenience store, two people got into an argument, that turned physical, then violent. This occurred after the two people began firing shots at one another. One person suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Smith revealed that the only thing that allows him to have peace of mind in the area, is through a higher power.

“I wake up everyday and tell God thank you that I’m still alive,” he said.

West Monroe Police Detectives indicate that at least 20 people stood witness to Monday’s fight. They believe that cell phone video can help them place the culprits behind bars. So they are asking for anyone with information to come forward. Smith is hoping the same.

“I just wish that the people would come forward and say what happened and tell the truth,” Smith stated.

He also thinks nothing will change, until everyone grows up.

“Grown folks start being grown folks and we all come together as one,” said Smith.

Anyone with information or video that can help lead to an arrest are encouraged to contact the West Monroe Police at 318-396-2722  or Crime Stoppers of North Delta at 318-388-2274 (CASH)
