A suspect was apprehended on Tuesday, April 10 and charged with armed robbery for an incident that occurred at U.S. Jones Hall on the Southern University campus.

Daniel Joseph Poole, 18, was arrested after the victim of the April 5 robbery positively identified him as one of three individuals who pointed guns at him and stole his money.

Around 12:10 a.m., members of the Southern University Police Department arrived at U.S. Jones Hall and learned that multiple individuals had robbed the victim.

A police investigation showed that the victim was robbed inside of U.S. Jones Hall and one of the robbers struck the victim on the side of the head with a handgun.

Poole was arrested without incident after an anonymous caller sent a picture of the defendant and a description of the vehicle he was driving.

Poole denied that he committed the armed robbery and he was transported to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
