WEST MONROE, La. –(4/12/19)  Bracing for severe weather can be overwhelming.

There’s always fears of substantial flooding, accidents and property damage.

With a storm of this magnitude right around the corner, it is extremely important to be prepared, even if you’re going to stay at home.

One of the most important things to know when you’re at home is you need to stay away from glass. Glass can easily break, especially with the high winds that we’re anticipating and create a dangerous environment for you and your loved ones.

One of the best places you can be for a storm like this is in your bathroom, where it’s just walls and no windows

If the storm gets really severe, don’t be afraid to hop right into your bath tub and stay there until it’s safe to come out.

It’s also important to make sure you have extra clothes, shoes and food wherever you may be.

It’s not just the home owners that need to be prepared for the storm. If you’re a business owner, especially a business in the service industry, you need to make sure your customers and employees are safe.

“My office can hold about ten to 12 people and I have storage which can hold up to 30 people,” said Vamsi Krishna, owner of Little India restaurant.

Another critical component about being prepared for this storm is knowing where you live, specifically which parish so you’ll know whether or not you need to evacuate.
