Rhymes, LA— Two people died today after the driver of a vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign.
Shortly before 3:30 p.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on Louisiana Highway 15 at the intersection of Louisiana Highway 133 in the community of Rhymes.
The preliminary investigation revealed a 2006 Honda Civic, driven by 26-year-old Jade Abshire of Vidalia, LA, was traveling north on LA 133. A 2012 Toyota pickup, driven by 45-year-old Ken Crawford of Mangham, LA was traveling east on LA 15. For unknown reasons, the Honda Civic failed to stop at the intersection and was struck by the Toyota in the driver’s side door.
Abshire and the passenger in the Civic, 45-year-old Arby Carter of Vidalia, LA, were pronounced dead at the scene by the Richland Parish Coroner’s Office.
Toxicology samples were obtained from the drivers and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
In 2016, Troop F has investigated 12 fatal crashes resulting in 13 deaths.
