City Attorney, Nanci Summersgill, is set to retire on February 28, 2018, after nearly 32 years of service to the City of Monroe.

Summersgill was hired in 1986 as an assistant City Attorney, and was the first female attorney to be part of the city’s legal team.  She has worked for the past four administrations.

Mayor Mayo appointed Summersgill as Monroe’s first female City Attorney in 2005.

As City Attorney, she has been over both the civil and prosecuting divisions of the legal department.

An interim will be named at the Mayor’s Press Briefing next week.
