(4/26/19) Police now say the standoff at a home in Shreveport’s Ingleside neighborhood prompted by a 911 call Friday afternoon is over and that the whole thing was the result of a hoax.

Police initially said the 911 call from a home in the 2900 block of Fulton St. came in just before 2:30 p.m. from a woman reporting that she had been assaulted by a man who was armed with an assault rifle.

Officers responded to the scene and attempted negotiations with a woman in the front yard who kept going in and out of the house for an unknown reason and a man believed to be armed inside the home.

However, SPD Public Information Officer Christina Curtis said just before 5 p.m. Friday that there was no armed man inside the house and no hostage situation.

“We were out here on an armed person and the house that the suspect was supposed to be at ended up not being related to this call, so we cleared the house and several houses around the area and this is believed to be a hoax.”

Curtis says no one is facing any charges at this time.
