(9/26/18) The Lincoln Sheriff’s Office has received several complaints about the IRS calling citizens in the Parish.
The caller may or may not be an automated system. The caller is stating that there are several IRS complaints against the person they are calling, and if the person they are calling for does not respond within 24 hours that there will be warrants issued and the local police will come pick them up.
This is a scam! The IRS does not contact anyone by phone.
If you get a call like this please, contact the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office and do not respond back to the caller.
All of these calls that have been investigated are coming from overseas, even though they may show a local number.
Remember, the IRS will not contact you by phone.
