(4/16/19) The Salvation Army of Monroe opened its doors to community leaders to show off their facility today.
The ‘Lunch and Learn’ is an opportunity for the public to see the benefits that the shelter provides to the community.
Today’s event featured firsthand accounts from those impacted through their time with the Salvation Army.
Shelter officials say it takes a community to help those in need.
“We’re more of a shelter of hope and understanding. The ability we have, with the community support, we are able to help others help themselves,” said Captain Jerome Casey.
The Salvation Army is able to help our neighbors in need only because of the support of the community.
