Louisiana Delta Community College (LDCC) is hosting the Richland Parish Crime Scene Investigator Camp on June 11, 2018 at 9 a.m.
LDCC has been a stop during the week-long camp for a few summers now. Claire Shepard, Associate Professor of Forensic Science, at LDCC shares, “We have been proud to partner with them for the past several years and host a portion of their camp at LDCC to ensure the students know about education opportunities in Northeast Louisiana.”
Camps like this one are prime opportunities for students to sample what this field may be like as a career. Visiting the LDCC Campus allows students to learn about the educational requirements for Forensics Science. “This semester we have two students in the Introduction to Forensic Science class that learned about LDCC from the CSI Camp and we have a graduate that works at the Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office, therefore the camp has fostered a great partnership,” explains Shepard.
Approximately twenty students will be at the Monroe Campus, located 7500 Millhaven Road, at 9 a.m. tomorrow, June 11th. They will have a short tour of the campus, followed by a tour of the forensic science lab and then will work a mock crime scene in the CSI house. The CSI house is located on the East side of the main building.
LDCC offers an associate degree program in Forensics Science. Enrollment for the Fall Semester is currently underway. For more information click here.
