Residents voice thoughts on new restaurant coming to El Dorado

Local News

(05/15/19) A new restaurant is coming to town this year and its sparking quite the discussion for residents in El Dorado.

“I’m curious,” Leah Faulkner said.

Northwest Avenue is the hub for all things business and restaurants. The lot next to McDonald’s is under construction. It used to be the Old Villas and Little Brother’s restaurant space. Now, it’s being developed into a completely new spot and it has the town buzzing.

“They were saying Zaxby’s at first and now they’re stating Slim Chickens,” Alexizandria Morris said.

No one in the town really knows for sure what the spot will be. One thing is for sure, though. Residents are looking for different fast food options to come to El Dorado.

“I don’t think we need another chicken place,” Faulker said. “I’m tired of chicken so that would be out of the picture,” Morris added.

Everyone also agrees they want something delicious and affordable.

“We could definitely use more healthy foods in El Dorado using locally sourced produce and stuff from local farms,” Barbara Pierce said. “That would be good if it were reasonably priced,” Faulkner added.

Many are hoping the town brings in a buffet or a popular fast food chain.

“Golden Corral restaurant, Wingstop or Buffalo Wild Wings,” Telvis Watson said. “A steakhouse. Something like Outback,” Faulkner added.

We can confirm the new restaurant will be a Zaxby’s or Slim Chickens. If you would like to voice your suggestions or concerns about other restaurants you want brought to El Dorado, contact the El Dorado Chamber of Commerce at (870)-863-6113.
