Region 8 Urban Search and Rescue Team head to Florida to help with rescue efforts

(10/10/18) Members of the Region 8 USAR team deployed early Wednesday morning to Pensacola, Florida, in the wake of Hurricane Michael. 

Chief Terry Williams comments, “A total of 12 members have been requested to deploy to Florida by the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office.  The team’s mission will be water rescues.”

The twelve-member team will consist of five personnel from the Monroe Fire Department, six from the Ouachita Parish Fire Department, and one from the West Monroe Fire Department.   

Mayor Jamie Mayo adds, “Please join us in praying for the safety of these dedicated Region 8 USAR team members, all of those providing aid in the rescue, and shelter effort, and for all that are effected by Hurricane Michael.”

This deployment is expected to last approximately seven days.
