Governor John Bel Edwards says the Louisiana Legislature needs to raise at least $450 million dollars in the second special session to cover reduced state services.. this according to nola.com.
Without at least that level of increase, Edwards said, several state programs — including the TOPS college scholarship program and hospitals for the poor and uninsured would be threatened.
The second special session begins Monday.. June 6, 2016 at 6:30 p.m.
A bill impacting the relationship between physical therapists and patients is in limbo.
According to nola.com, a spokesperson for the Governor’s office said that the governor remains undecided on what action he will take on the bill that would give physical therapists direct access to patients.
The Louisiana Orthopedic Association is urging Edwards to veto SB 291.
