It was just last week that we told you about Bossier Parish Police juror Doug Rimmer’s decision to run for the House District 8  seat — left vacant by Representative Mike Johnson… now Rimmer has changed his mind.

He says his wife, who is still recovering from a serious car accident, asked him not to run.

Rimmer was the sole candidate for that seat.

The election is set for March 25th.

U.S. Senator, and former candidate for president, Ted Cruz, along with U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis of Florida proposed an amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would impose term limits on members of Congress.

The amendment would limit U.S. senators to two six-year terms and members of the U.S. House of Representatives to three two-year terms.

Constitutional amendments require approval of two-thirds of both the House and the Senate and then need to be ratified by three-quarters of state legislatures or a convention of the states.

Nearly 1,000 Louisiana residents are expected to take part in the national Women’s March on Washington the day after the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump this month, this according to nola.com.

The January 21st march, which is expected to be the largest demonstration linked to Trump’s inauguration, has registered more than 100,000 people across the country.

The event’s official program includes appearances by nationally-recognized advocates and entertainers including Gloria Steinem and Harry Belafonte.
