(12/18/18) Monroe Police have arrested a man accused of trying to hire someone to kill his estranged wife.
Michael Faubion, 47 of Monroe, was arrested on December 18, 2018.
According to the warrant for arrest, on December 7, 2018, officers made contact with his estranged wife at the Monroe Police Department.
Police say Faubion had recently filed a police report regarding a threat complaint against her estranged husband, Michael Faubion.
She explained she was recently contacted by Faubion’s roommate, about threats that he had made against her.
The roommate told her Faubion was attempting to have her killed.
On December 5, 2018, a Monroe Police Department Officer made contact with the roommate regarding the investigation.
The roommate told officers he and Faubion are roommates and live together at 407 Sheridan Ave.
The roommate said he and Faubion were talking about prison life and Faubion’s affiliation with a prison gang.
Faubion then told his roommate, “I trust you, I want my wife killed.”
Faubion then told his roommate that he and his wife had received a large worker’s compensation settlement for about $200,000.
Faubion also said he was the beneficiary on his wife’s life insurance policies.
Faubion asked his roommate if he would contact “his people (members of a gang he was involved with while in jail) and take the hit.”
Faubion then told his roommate he would pay him for setting up the murder along with who ever killed his wife.
Faubion told his roommate he would pay him and the murderer through the money he would receive after his wife’s death.
According to Faubion’s wife, his roommate had accurate information regarding the amount of money awarded from worker’s compensation claim.
The roommate also disclosed property (house, two cars, and life insurance policies) that Faubion would receive after his wife’s death and use that property to pay for her murder.
On December 11, 2018, officers spoke with Faubion’s roommate in regards to the investigation. The roommate said he believed the threat against Faubion’s wife was real which is why he contacted Faubion’s wife to tell her.
The roommate also feared Michael would hire someone else to kill his wife if he didn’t agree to do it.
Due to Michael Faubion asking his roommate to assist in the killing of his wife and discussing the payment, an arrest warrant was requested for Faubion for solicitation to commit murder.
Faubion is currently being held at the Ouachita Correctional Center on one count of solicitation for murder.
His bond has been set at $1,000,000.00.
