(1/18/19) The State Fire Marshal’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a person of interest wanted for questioning in connection with a suspicious, vacant house fire in Jonesboro.

Just after Midnight on January 15, the Jonesboro Fire Department responded to the fire call in the 200 block of Pearrie Street.  The SFM was contacted for assistance in the investigation after the discovery of area surveillance video showing a suspicious person in the vicinity of the property minutes before the fire.

Following an assessment of the scene and collecting witness interviews, it was determined the fire started in the home’s kitchen area.  While the exact cause of the fire remains undetermined at this time, investigators have classified the fire as incendiary.

In the attached surveillance video, an unidentified male wearing a light-colored, hooded sweatshirt, light-colored pants and tennis shoes can be seen walking away from the scene minutes before fire and smoke are then visible.

The SFM is asking anyone with information about this person’s identity and whereabouts to contact our Arson Hotline at 1-800-256-5452 or share the information through our online tip form found at lasfm.org.
