Ouachita Parish celebrates Older Americans’ Month

This year the Older Americans’ Month celebration held at the at the West Monroe Convention center is going above and beyond.

The event was held Wednesday morning and was filled with food and fun including live talent, crawfish, plenty of volunteers and vendor booths.

Senior Center Director Jeanette Ellington says you can’t put an age limit on a good time.
“This is Older Americans’ Month. It was proclaimed by President Kennedy and every president has a theme. This years theme is “Engage at every age”, and do you know what that means? You’re never too old to have fun,” says Ellington.

More than 1,000 Ouachita Parish Senior Citizens came out to celebrate today.

The West Ouachita Senior Center hosted a “National Older Americans Month” for over 3 decades.
