OPSO urges motorists to avoid flooded roadways, seek alternate routes

OUCHITA PARISH, La. – (4/13/19) The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office have received reports of flash flooding on several parish roads throughout western Ouachita Parish.

Our cameras captured people driving down a flooded Jonesboro Road near the paper mill.

Deputies said motorists are urged to avoid travel if at all possible due to the conditions. Do not drive through flooded roadways and seek an alternate route. 

Flash flooding has been reported on some streets in the Bawcomville area and Avant Road in the Claiborne community.

Authorities said Jonesboro Road near the area of the paper mill is flooded and cars have flooded out trying to drive through the water. Deputies urge motorists to avoid this area until weather lets up and water is gone.
