In Franklin parish, friends, family, and fellow officers said their final goodbyes to the Winnsboro police officer, Derrick Mingo, who died in a car crash.
The funeral was held at River of Life Church in Winnsboro on Saturday.
Last weekend, 34-year-old Derrick Mingo, was in a fatal wreck while in route to assist another officer pursuing a drunk driver.
Mingo was traveling west on Louisiana 4, in his assigned dodge charger, when he lost control of the vehicle, exited on the right side of the road, then hit a tree.
State troopers said the surface of the road was wet, due to the rain, and Mingo was not wearing his seatbelt.
Mingo served the public since he was 18-years old.
