The Monroe City Council has approved bids on two parking lot revonation projects at two area facilities; the Monroe Civic Center and the Saul Adler Recreation Center.
The facilities have not seen renovations to their parking lots on the last two decades. Time and other issues have worn the lots down to where they are now.
Construction will begin shortly, and should wrap up by the start of August, weather permitting. This will not be a touch up job; they will be going below the top layer and laying down a new base. This will cover 9 acres of the civic center, and the parking lots at Saul Adler.
Combined, the projects will cost close to $1.1 million dollars, which is actually under budget.
Monore Civic Center Director George Cannon also says that smaller renovations are occuring inside the center as well to modernize the building as best as possible. No major renovations are expected inside the center at this time.
Until then, patrons who use the facilities need to be wary and patient of the construction and plan accordingly.
