MONROE, La. (9/7/18) — In a city wide beautification effort, Monroe regional is next on the list. Today city leaders unveiled a new mural inside the terminal.
Artists Emj Cruz and Ali Hijazi have created a piece that represents continuing trust in communication and technology.
MLU airport director Ron Phillips says the new artwork will help keep the airport aesthetically pleasing for visitors.
“We promote art at the airport and this art goes a long way in helping us enhance the appearance of the airport”, says Phillips.
Beyond looks, the airport is seeking to expand one runway another 1300 feet, which could bring larger aircraft, and more direct flights to more places.
City council will vote on bids for the runway extension during next week’s meeting.
